How To Draw A Ring In Chemistry

Cyclohexane Rings

Students ofttimes complain they are terrible at drawing organic chemistry structures particularly chair conformations of the cyclohexane rings. Since getting the questions right often depends on the person marker your papers beingness able to translate your ring correctly I feel its worth spending actress time getting your ring right.

Step 1. Start with a pair of lines drawn in pencil as guides. Draw a triangle equally shown in the flick.

Step 3. Shut the ring past drawing two more lines to make another triangle.

Method 2 for Drawing Cyclohexane Rings

The 2d method makes use of the fact information technology is made upwards of three sets of parallel lines. In my example I take chosen the centre two lines to draw first, yous may prefer the end 2. I find it easiest to start on a bottom betoken and draw a vertical line down, any up points should have a vertical line up. This is an alternate pattern of upwards and downwards. Whenever I answer a trouble involving energy conformations I volition always commencement with a quick diagram of a cyclohexane ring with the centric positions drawn in.

One mutual mistake is to start with 2 lines horizontal. This makes information technology difficult to put the axial positions on correctly as they would no longer be vertical. It's worth noticing that at that place should be three sets of 4 lines at present all parallel.
